Dr. Panos N. Vardas and the UAB Medicine surgical team after successfully implanting the TransForm™ McCarthy Mitral Annuloplasty Ring.

We’re excited to share an important milestone in the adoption of our latest innovation. Dr. Panos N. Vardas and his team at UAB Medicine have successfully implanted two TransForm™ McCarthy Mitral Annuloplasty Rings.

Developed in collaboration with Patrick McCarthy, MD, of Northwestern Medicine, the TransForm™ ring was engineered to deliver precision, flexibility, and minimally invasive capabilities for today’s mitral valve repair procedures. Its semi-rigid yet adaptive design supports the surgeon’s ability to restore valve function while accommodating a variety of surgical approaches, including open, port-access, and robotic-assisted techniques.

With these recent procedures, UAB Medicine now joins Northwestern Medicine as one of the first academic institutions in the U.S. to evaluate and implant the TransForm™ ring. This early adoption highlights the ring’s potential to shape the next generation of mitral valve repair by combining surgeon-driven design with real-world clinical performance.

At Genesee BioMedical, we are proud to see TransForm™ making a difference in leading cardiac centers, and we look forward to sharing more updates as additional hospitals integrate this innovative solution into their mitral repair programs.
